General Proximity is a seed-stage startup developing the next generation of induced proximity medicines (IPMs). Our OmniTAC drug discovery engine furnishes molecules that co-opt existing cellular machinery to overcome therapeutic challenges, which have remained unapproachable to other modalities for decades.We are seeking a first-rate Chief Business Officer to help us pioneer this uncharted frontier of drug discovery.Our StoryA long-standing challenge in drug discovery is the development of molecules capable of modulating difficult or "undruggable" targets. Disease-causing proteins can be dysfunctional in many different ways, but our armamentarium for fixing them is quite limited. The most common mechanism of action for FDA-approved drugs is inhibition, but there are many other possible perturbation types whose potential remains unrealized.General Proximity is a seed-stage drug discovery company developing a novel platform technology to solve this problem. We make bifunctional drugs that induce the modification of drug targets by existing cellular machinery (rather than through direct modulation by the drug, the classical approach).Historically, the development of technologies that allow one to push new buttons in biology has been an incredibly fertile field for the discovery of new medicines, and our technology holds the same promise.The PositionWe are seeking an experienced Chief Business Officer to help lead our company. This position will play a critical leadership role in driving the strategic and operational growth of the company. Your responsibilities will include identifying and evaluating new growth opportunities, establishing strategic alliances, leading efforts to identify, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships, collaborations, and licensing agreements.About YouHigh Agency. • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (MBA, PhD, or equivalent).
• 10+ years of leadership experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industries, with senior roles in corporate strategy, business development, and investor relations.
• An extensive and impressive deal sheet that demonstrates a track record of identifying, negotiating, and closing strategic partnerships, collaborations, and licensing agreements with biotech and pharma companies.
• Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
• Proactive with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Strong experience with:
• Assessing and understanding biotech industry trends and competitive landscape, combined with a deep scientific and business acumen.
• Deep knowledge of drug discovery and development.
• Capital raising from VCs and a strong network of industry and investor contacts.
• Asset valuation, forecasting, deal analysis and structuring with strong financial acumen.
• Collaborating with internal teams to structure optimal partnership frameworks, including with research & development, clinical, IP, and legal to drive partnerships forward and ensure long-term success.
• Providing strategic financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and optimize company performance.
• Preparing and delivering compelling presentations.
• Nice to have:
• Experience with companies developing PROTAC/molecular glue/next-gen induced proximity medicine (IPM) technologies.
• Experience working in Biotech startups and navigating IPO processes.
